The Contenders
Let’s kick things off with the cards we’re testing today:
- SanDisk 128 GB Extreme
- Samsung 128 GB EVO Select
- Lexar 128 GB E-Series 3 Pack
- Amazon Basics 128 GB MicroSD
- SanDisk 256 GB High Endurance
- Samsung 512 GB EVO Select
SanDisk Extreme
Starting with the SanDisk Extreme, one of my all-time favorite brands! This card comes pre-formatted and offers a write speed of 90 MB/s, consistently hitting up to 95 MB/s in my tests. The read speed is rated at 190 MB/s, and during testing, it delivered a read speed of 160 MB/s. It’s a solid choice for anyone needing reliable performance.
Samsung EVO Select
Next up, we have the Samsung 128 GB EVO Select. This card has a slightly lower write speed, averaging around 60 MB/s, but it can reach a transfer rate of up to 130 MB/s. My tests showed read speeds of 124 MB/s. This card is a great option if you’re looking for something to store large files on kids’ tablets or security cameras.
Lexar E-Series 3 Pack
Then there’s the Lexar 128 GB E-Series, which impressed me with a write speed of 81 MB/s and a read speed of 91 MB/s. It managed to land between the SanDisk and Samsung, showing good consistency. If you’re looking for a pack of three cards, this is a fantastic deal!
Amazon Basics MicroSD
Amazon Basics also entered the fray with their 128 GB MicroSD card. It performed quite admirably, achieving a write speed of 82 MB/s and a read speed of 91 MB/s. This card is a great value option, especially for everyday use.
SanDisk High Endurance
Now, let’s talk about the SanDisk 256 GB High Endurance card. Initially rated for up to 40 MB/s, it blew my expectations away by achieving a write speed of 132 MB/s and a read speed of 161 MB/s! This card is not only affordable but also waterproof, temperature-proof, shock-proof, and x-ray proof, making it an excellent choice for those who need durability.
Samsung 512 GB EVO Select
Finally, we have the Samsung 512 GB EVO Select. This card showed a decent performance with a write speed of 112 MB/s and a read speed of 148 MB/s. While it’s the largest and most expensive card in this lineup, it offers solid performance for high-resolution video and extensive data storage.
Final Thoughts
In terms of overall performance, the SanDisk Extreme reigns supreme among the 128 GB cards, followed closely by Amazon Basics and Lexar. However, for those needing endurance, the SanDisk High Endurance card steals the spotlight with its outstanding speed and durability. If you’re looking for a reliable MicroSD card, you can’t go wrong with any of these options.
